★ honestly any castmates/other hbowars/wwii characters!
★ BUT also i'm in rarepair hell and dying to ship him with a crosby - down for anything with these two but i especially would love something difficult and messy - i think that while john tends to be attuned to the wellbeing of the people around him, he struggles with openly acknowledging the softer parts of his own personality which leads to mixed signals such as lying to his superior officers to cover for croz and then literally denying reality and being like "no i didn't cover for you", so that tendency + the general complications of being two men in the same unit when these things weren't openly talked about could make for a really interesting, non-linear sort of slowburn courtship period between them that i think could be fun to play out in which even his interest in crosby isn't super clearly communicated at first (is this a date? isn't it? was he making a pass just now or was that a snarky little comment? etc etc).
and then ofc i think john would be very much in camp "this doesn't mean anything, i'm not attracted to men, don't make this into something it's not" and make that very clear only to then... develop feelings... and be in denial of that fact bc it's like, easier for him. also like. inappropriate workplace tension in a mutual "stupid crush on coworker" way, having to define the relationship at some point and establish expectations, the perils of loving someone who might not come back alive on any given day, the whole jean situation, etc etc... it's good food!!!
★ recently i've seen some really good stuff with him with hambone and would be down to ship them, too - i think with hammy my preference is something tonally heavier taking place during their time together in the stalag, maybe sort of emotionally/physically leaning on each other to get through a really hard time. also very interested in exploring the emotional repercussions of hambone's facial disfigurement and how that would impact the early stages of a romantic relationship, self-perception, etc.
★ also down for general shipping for m/m comrades-in-arms-with-benefits/arrangements of mutual convenience situations and in-era gen and crosscanon - let me play my war boy during the war!!!! also very open to postwar things with castmates, especially in a shipping/establishing a life together context.

★ EST; i'm mostly a weekend boomerang tagger but sometimes tag sporadically throughout the week as well.
★ i love to chat about where threads are headed, possible avenues they could take, etc. preferred form of contact for general chatting is discord followed by PP.

★ definitely down to write out smut, but i prefer that it has an emotional purpose/plot relevance/is interesting or unusual in some way. if it's just tab a to slot b i prefer ftb.
